Brick front as link between old and new
Owner and architect decides to use the artisan brick for the facade, as bricks allow to model, to structure and to profile the wall to get shadows and depths. The creative concept has already been defined more than 20 years ago when the architect got the order to put an addition on the storehouse to have a block of offices. He carried out a superstructure containing two upper storeys which are set-back from the façades and which have a smaller floor than a full storey.
The façade is covered with copper and affected by vertical oriels with gables which show the typical and very characteristic building elements and structures. The now realized rebuilding into an office building harmonizes in architectural view with the landmarked Quayside Warehouse B and has significantly been affected by the gable structure of both corbie gables. The bricking as well as the very rustic and colourful brick Alt Ruppin made by A·K·A makes the Kontorhaus Gebr. Heinemann together with the historical Quayside Warehouse B to an urban unit and a succeeded alliance to the Hamburgs storehouse-town.
