Ceramic "waffle" effect unites tradition and modernity in Oostende
The fascinating pattern in brickwork appears different from every angle, and with each change of light and weather. The waffle effect comes to life through the charming play of light and shadow. The laying works in accordance with standards were carried out diagonally in the mortar with a 2-3 mm wide join. To ensure proper joining, the tips of the slabs were cut off and used for 45° topping or application. The only contrast in the promenade area is provided by the bordering, finishes and sequences arranged in reduced form in blue natural stone. In combination with the steel used for lighting, banisters and steps bordering, an almost futuristic overall ensemble results in relation to the location.
