Technical functional building for Deutsche Telekom | Location: | Karl-Wiechert-Allee, Hannover | |
Year built: | 2003 | ||
Planning: | Deutsche Telekom |
Deutsche Telekom opted for exposed brick masonry consisting of A·K·A bricks
The new building extension in the Telekom grounds is currently the largest new building of the telecommunications giant. In terms of architecture, this represents a 6-storey, purely technical and functional building. The eaves height without roof structures is 28 metres. Despite its cubic functional purpose, considerable attention was paid to the external appearance.
The facade consists of warm-red exposed brick masonry, relieved by six yellow-red foliations. The outer walls from the ground floor upwards were constructed as two-leaf cavity walls - the rear masonry leaf in reinforced concrete, 6 cm insulation with a 6 cm air layer as well as 11.5 cm brick facing in rustic bond.
